Hello and welcome students and parents to the 2020-2021 school year. What a ride we’ve all been on lately! We have all embarked on the discovery of new frontiers, brought on by the covid-19 pandemic. These new frontiers bring about a lot of unknowns, as well as new challenges. I want all of you to know that I am here for you and your children. I will make sure that I do everything in my power to provide the best therapy service that I can, to meet your child’s speech and communication needs.  As in the past, we will take on any challenges that come our way head on, and we will get through this together.  Below is a brief summary of what speech and language therapy addresses.

Speech/Language Therapy in the school focuses on:
  • Increasing expressive and receptive language skills
  • Increasing vocabulary skills
  • Improving articulation skills
  • Improving fluency/stuttering
  • Improving and increasing pragmatic (social) language skills
  • Improving grammar and syntax
If your child currently receives Speech/Language therapy:
  • Homework: Continued practice of speech/language skills is extremely important for your child’s progress in his/her speech/language program
  • Parent involvement is welcomed and a valuable part of your child’s progress!
    • We are a team, working together to improve your child’s speech/language skills.
    • Please contact me via email or phone with any questions, comments, or concerns
  • Meetings to update/review your child’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) are held annually
    • You will be contacted during the school year to set up a meeting

Sincerely
