Picture Day

download

Hi again,

Fall Picture Day is scheduled for Friday, September 24, 2021. Your child may come to school “dressed up” or in his/her best outfit for the pictures. I would also like to let you know that your child may still come to school with his/her uniform if he/she chooses to.

Kindly return the completed order/purchase form that I placed in your child’s purple folder last week if you want to order a copy of the picture. If by any chance that you did not see or receive the form, please write me a note in your child’s homework folder and I will make sure that you get another copy of the form. Please fill it out completely and enclose the correct amount then place it back in your child’s folder. I will make sure that your child gets to hand it personally to the Lifetouch associate when he/she gets to the photoshoot on Friday.

For questions and clarifications, please email me at mpilar2@laveeneld.org or call me at 602-237-9120, extension 3237.

Thank you!

Best,

Mrs. Maria Pilar

Dear Kinder Parents and Families,

I am so thrilled to inform you that we are now able to access one of the amazing digital platforms that we will use during interventions time. This website is called “eSpark”. “eSpark” is a fun, differentiated learning platform for PK-5 math and reading classrooms. Automatically differentiating instruction with fun games, videos, and creative challenges, eSpark makes it easy to meet your students’ unique learning need with engaging activities that kids love. eSpark’s intuitive design allows students to independently learn at their own skill level and pace, giving teachers like me the time I need to work with small groups. eSpark features on-demand assignments that allow me to select skills for targeted practice based on weekly email suggestions.

We will be using this platform during our RTI block which is from 7:50 am-8:35 am. You may also proceed and let your child work on assignments every night to get additional practice after homework time!

I will be sending home your child’s log-in information by Friday, September 3, 2021. You may access this platform at anytime with internet access and a computer, ipad, or tablet. To log in, here are the instructions:

1. Open the website espark.app
2. Click “Login with Google”
3. Enter code “YADEN”

Please let me know if you have further questions at mpilar2@laveeneld.org or call me at 602-237-9120, extension 3237.

Thank you very much and thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Pilar

SPALDING PHONOGRAM SOUNDS

Letter Names and Letter Sounds

download (1)

Hello again everyone,

It’s time to get to work and become better readers and better writers! This coming week, we will continue working on our letter names and letter sounds. We have learned 15 out of the 26 letters of the alphabet so far. I hope you will find the opportunity to practice with your child so he/she can master the first 26 phonograms of our Spalding curriculum- which has 70 phonograms in total!

There are many simple and easy ways to practice with your child. Here are some but not limited to the following:

  1. Read to your child 15 minutes or more every night.
  2. Sing and recite the alphabet song frequently.
  3. Use cards to practice fluency or speed to name the letter and give their sounds.
  4. Let your child interact with the book by letting him/her “spy” and “hunt” for letters/phonograms.
  5. Use homework folder sheets to practice reciting the phonograms every night.

Thank you so much everyone for your hard work. Let’s all keep it up!

Count, Write Numbers 0-5

download

This coming week, we will be learning how to count, write, and read numbers 0-5. You may practice this skill with your child by letting him/her count socks, shoes, beans, cereal, pillows, toys, and many other household things. Please make sure they touch, point, and say the number as they count forwards from 0-5. I can’t wait to see how your child performs during our lessons! Happy counting!

You may watch fun counting videos like these. Please click on the video:  Count 1 to 5
