Teacher Bio

I have been in education for almost 20 years, and have held many roles and positions. Literacy is my true passion and I am working on my National Board Teaching Certificate for Literacy; I want to teach the students this year that each subject area has its own type of literacy and we are going to learn how to navigate through all of it! Outside of school, I am a mom of 2 daughters (one is 24 and even attended Cheatham for awhile!), a wife of 20+ years, a dog mom, and a snake mom (Sssteve is a ball python who lives in our classroom!).

I love traveling and exploring new places, but my favorite thing to do on school breaks is to ride out in the Apache-Sitgreaves forest along the Mogollon Rim. My family has a cabin up there and we love the cool mountain air!

I have lived in Arizona for over 25 years, but am originally from a small community in Southern Colorado. I lived in Pennsylvania when I was in high school, but had to come right back to the west coast as soon as I could! I need wide open sky and lots of sunshine.
