Teacher Bio

Greetings Panther Scholars and Families,

GO PANTHERS! I want to give a warm welcome and take this official opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Chrystal Jenkins-Davis and I am your Panther’s 7th Grade Math Instructor. In November of 2019, I returned to Trailside Point Performing Arts Academy after spending a few years away caring for an ill parent. It has been a pleasure to come back and teach in such a wonderful welcoming community of students and families! So, let’s start by giving some fun facts about Ms. Jenkins-Davis……

Ms. Jenkins-Davis is from Los Angeles, California, and an educator for over 15+ years. I am a mother of 5 and a grandmother of 6 grandchildren. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Arizona University with a minor in Psychology and a Master’s in Education with a Teaching emphasis in STEM Applications and Reading Acquisition from Louisiana Tech University (Go Bulldogs). I have experienced a wide variety of school communities from all girls to all boys, Special Exceptionalities including Gifted/Talented, Pre-Kinder to 12th grade, and of course our most recent Online Instructor.

Believe It or Not, I mentioned before that I once taught here at Trailside Point, I taught 5th grade for several years and then moved to the middle school Department to teach Math and Science. In addition, I became one of The Laveen School District’s first S.T.E.M. Advisor/Coaches for the Middle School Competition Team. Another “Believe it or Not” fact was that I became Laveen School District’s first female Flag Football Head Coach during the 2014-2015 school year.

I come to you with a passion for our scholars to obtain opportunities and articulate within multiple communities. Whether speaking, writing, and/or reading, communicating across various subjects/communities helps us understand the world around us just a little bit better. I recognize that 21st Century Learners are unique learners that gain knowledge in many ways. It is because of this, that the integration of critical thinking, questioning, and responding is such an important aspect of my lesson planning.  Research has shown that the more diverse vocabulary is spoken, the better scholars are able to communicate their needs with others.

Math requires discipline and focus to apply content to real-world situations and issues. As a seasoned professional, I encourage families to help scholars keep a positive attitude towards learning. and to strive to meet school and classroom expectations that set students up for success.  I need scholars to be cooperative with school and classroom expectations by Creating great habits for a successful future!  I have been called a strict but, fair teacher and this may be because I believe in setting high expectations for access to learning opportunities! I expect scholars to be respectful and follow P.A.C.T. EXPECTATIONS.

Trailside Point Performing Arts Academy has a high standard of rigor that is meant to meet the Arizona College Readiness Standards and Expectations and Common Core National Standards. Student Academic and Social Development is our highest priority! As a working parent, I understand the need to balance home and school life for our scholars and families, please feel free to communicate with me any concerns, questions, and/or Shout Outs by email: cdavis@laveeneld.org. I will return a response within 24 hours.

Welcome Again to 7th Grade!  GO PANTHERS!

Sincerely,

Ms. Chrystal Jenkins-Davis
