Assignments and Grades

 

Assignments will vary between hard-copy and virtual tasks. This year, students will be completing various bellworks, independent practices, quizzes, and a few tests.

Grades

Students will be graded on 2 categories: academic and effort.

Academic Effort
Academic grades will be based on the achievement of different science standards.

These will be based on completed independent practices as well as quizzes. The scale is as follows:

A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%.
F = 50-59%

A flat 50% indicates the assignment was not turned in. Anything higher is a reflection of the work turned in.

 Effort grades will be based on daily attendance, reflections, as well as an overall representation of completion and participation.

(E)xcellent = 80% or higher
(S)atisfactory = 60% – 80%
(N)eeds Improvement = 59% or lower

Missing/Late Work

  • There will not be any extra credit offered, however, students may redo some work to demonstrate their learning.
  • Effort grades and quizzes cannot be redone.
  • All independent practice assignments can be redone and eligible to receive full credit.
  • All late work is also accepted without deduction of points.

Late work and redo’s will be accepted up to the a week prior to the end of each quarter. Those deadlines can change, but are currently as follows:

  • Quarter 1: September 27th, 2021
  • Quarter 2: December 10th, 2021
  • Quarter 3: February 26th, 2022
  • Quarter 4: May 14th, 2022
