Assignments

There will be math homework Monday-Thursday every week.  Please practice memorizing addition and subtraction facts with your child every day.  We will have math quizzes several times a week to assess memorization of addition and subtraction facts.  It is important for your child to have confidence in math and knowing the math facts quickly is a great way to start.

There is a spelling notebook that will be sent home each night with a list of spelling words and quick activity. Spelling quizzes are every Friday at the begining of the day.  Our spelling lists are a combination of Spadling phonograms and words from our reading content.  The words will be more challenging throughout the year and there are bonus words on each list that are optional but strongly encouraged

Starting the week of August 15th there will be a reading passage for your child to practice reading fluently. It will be in the yellow homework folder.  I will ask your child to read this passage to me every week.  The goal is to read 90 words in a minute by the end of second grade.
