Spring Pictures

Dear Families~

The spring pictures have been developed.  The pictures are currently still at Lifetouch awaiting the lifting of the Stay Home order so their workers can return to the facility.  When the order is lifted, Lifetime will resume work and send them to school.  From there, the school will send a message about pick-up or will simply mail them to families.

Thank you for your understanding.

Student work…

Dear Students and Families~

I am touching base to let you know many of you have reached out to make sure learning can continue for the remainder of the school year.

  • Next steps:  Make sure work is being completed.  Some students have been online regularly and completed a lot of work.; whereas, others only a few times, but haven’t turned in much (if any work).
  • If you have the reading book and math workbook at home for support…GREAT!  Math can be done in the workbook and then pictures taken to share with me through email if needed.

If your family hasn’t reached out to continue learning here is what you can do:

  • Email Ms. Burnap to let her know how she can support you.
  • Do you have technology devices at home?  (Devices can include a personal computer, laptop, Chromebook, tablet or smartphone)
    • If you need a form of technology because you do NOT have one of the above for your child, please let Ms. Burnap know.
  • Do you have access to the internet?
    • Some major providers are offering free service for 30-60 days.
  • Do you have the curriculum materials at home?  (Reading and math books)
    • Let Ms. Burnap know if you would like to try getting these to have at home.

We have been working on this new normal for about three weeks.  The online format will continue until the school year ends for students on May 20, 2020.

Updates for 3/25/2020

Dear Students and Families~

  • TEXTBOOKS  (reading and math) are available on Thursday and Friday this week from 8-11:00 a.m. in the gym.
  • Band kids:
    5th Grade
    1) Practice Log- Due Monday, March 30- practice the songs on page 13 of book 1 (These are the concert songs). Email me (lwolfe@laveeneld.org) on Monday your practice log with how many minutes you practiced each day.

News from PE Department…

Dear Students and Families,

Here is news from Coaches Lamb and Copatch about physical education during our online learning:  Students can do this often but our designated PE weeks are Week 5 (this week) and Week 1 (next week).
The physical education team at our school is working with resources from
OPENPhysEd.org to help you stay physically active and healthy while our schools are
closed. In order to meet physical education goals during this time, students must be
physically active for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. (preferably 60 minutes)
Remember, activity time doesn’t have to happen all at once. You can add up your total
activity throughout the day to equal 60 minutes. Students, at the end of each day, let
your homeroom teacher know what activity you chose and how many minutes you
exercised.
It’s easy!
Step 1 – Go to www.openphysed.org/activeschools/activehome
Step 2 – choose ANY activity that you want! That’s right…YOU get to choose. For once,
you get to overrule Coach Copatch! You can even choose other exercises that aren’t
even on the website. Anything that will keep you active during the quarantine.
Step 3- Let your homeroom teacher know these two things: 1) the activity you chose
and 2) how many minutes you did the activity.
There are a lot of fun activities on the website. There is even a new section on social
distancing activities!

Thank you for your cooperation. Stay active and stay well.

Sincerely,
Coach Copatch

Chromebook Check out Form

Dear Families~

Here is the latest information you need for Chromebook check out on Monday from 9-11:00 a.m.
From Mr. Ketcham:  If you have parents/guardians indicating that they want to get a Chromebook for their child but can’t come to the school, please give them the following information.  There are about 55 Chromebooks that will be available.
  • An adult who is listed on the pickup list in synergy can check out a Chromebook for a student.
  • If a parent/guardian is unable to come to the school and they send someone else, we must have a Technology Check-Out form that is signed by the parent before we can issue a Chromebook.  Parents/guardians can use the link below to access the form.  They can print the form, sign it, and send it with whoever is picking up the Chromebook.  We also have the form available in the office.
  • Anyone checking out a device must have ID.
I will be in touch later today more than likely as to the online learning format, expectations, etc.

Update on 3/20/2020

Dear Students and Families,
As you may have heard, Governor Ducey and State Superintendent Hoffman have announced that schools will remain closed until April 10.  We are in the process of getting everything ironed out for class material next week.  The format may look different, but we are going to all work together to make this the best learning opportunity possible.

If you want, use these links below to direct students on how to log into their curriculum online.  Most will have no trouble with Discovery Education as they use the online format more often.
