I believe in educating the whole child, this means academically, socially and emotionally. I know that children learn best in an environment that they feel safe, comfortable and loved in. My goal is to empower my students to care for themselves and take control of their own learning, sense of self, and sense of others. I set clear and high expectations for my students both academically, and socially. I teach my students to grow as learners and as friends. In our classroom we support each others learning through kindness, respect and teamwork. My classroom is a safe space where every child is free (and encouraged) to try and succeed, and sometimes to try and fail, but where we all are always growing. We focus on the power of yet, as in “I don’t know how to… yet”. Each child is unique and part of my mission is to meet each of my students where they are and to work with them in a variety of different learning styles in order to help everyone achieve his/her highest level of success. I will do everything in my power to grow learners, but thankfully I’m not in it alone! You are your child’s first teacher and I am so excited to begin this first grade journey as your partner in your child’s development!
