Meet the Teacher

Hello, my name is Art Teacher Ruth. I will be the Visual Arts Instructor at Cheatham Elementary and Junior High School this year. I was born and raised in Phoenix. I graduated from Arizona State University. I have multiple pets. I love movies, books, and JRPG video games.

I am looking forward to working with students on developing their creative and critical thinking skills. My aim is to help students improve their skills in art by challenging them to challenge themselves, as well as accept failure as a part of improvement. I stand firmly in the belief that all people can provide positive improvement to society, and that art is an area where students can experiment with this.

My “why” is that I want to give children the opportunity to develop visual arts skills and creative development skills for them to apply in their future careers. I want to advocate for the useful application of arts in all career fields, to help students view and and create a realistic plan for their future, and to help plan for the betterment of the world.
