Hello again everyone,
It’s time to get to work and become better readers and better writers! This coming week, we will continue working on our letter names and letter sounds. We have learned 15 out of the 26 letters of the alphabet so far. I hope you will find the opportunity to practice with your child so he/she can master the first 26 phonograms of our Spalding curriculum- which has 70 phonograms in total!
There are many simple and easy ways to practice with your child. Here are some but not limited to the following:
- Read to your child 15 minutes or more every night.
- Sing and recite the alphabet song frequently.
- Use cards to practice fluency or speed to name the letter and give their sounds.
- Let your child interact with the book by letting him/her “spy” and “hunt” for letters/phonograms.
- Use homework folder sheets to practice reciting the phonograms every night.
Thank you so much everyone for your hard work. Let’s all keep it up!
