This week, we will start our Chapter on counting and cardinality. The first chapter is focused on counting, reading, writing and making groups of 1-5 objects. You can help your child master these skills by practicing with them using different household items that will keep them engaged. Such things are and not limited to the following: beans, marbles, clothing during laundry time, buttons, shoes, pillows, chairs, their own toys, books, cereal, windows, rooms, doors, steps to and from a room in your house, cars they see on the way to the store, and many many more. You can also help them practice writing the numeral using tactile materials by using small items to form the number, sand, playdoh, shaving cream, sandpaper to trace, etc. By doing so, you will be supporting your child to meet their kindergarten goals of counting to 100 and identifying numbers 0-20. Your time and effort to practice with your child will show a great difference in his/her success in this school year! Thank you!
