Yes, Spring break is over. Classes resume tomorrow, Monday, March 19th. I hope you all enjoyed your week off and tried to relax as much as you can. Why? It is because we are now starting the first day of our last quarter of the school year. This quarter will be our last push to make those goals we have set last August. So, see you all bright and early tomorrow morning! Welcome back, Y’all. Let’s do this!
Classroom Updates
A Bouncy 3rd Quarter Incentive
Friday, March 9th, was a very special day for all students and staff of MC Cash School. Why? It was our school’s 3rd Quarter Incentive Field Day! It was a day to celebrate all students who met and exceeded their goals for the 3rd quarter. The Specials Area team with the assistance of the Administration organized the event. The eligible students were celebrated by relaxing in different bouncy houses that were sponsored and funded by our amazing Booster Club. A few teachers volunteered and braved “The Dunk Tank” while the Student Council and the Lady Roadrunners were the officiating officers and guards of the bouncy house. Teachers, staff, administrators, parents, and students alike were amused and enjoyed a stress-free time together! What a perfect event to end the quarter! Kindly check out my Gallery for pictures. Thanks!
Happy National Breakfast Week
Our school joined the nation to celebrate National Breakfast Week. As a special treat and surprise, we were visited by Ms. Arizona on Wednesday, March 7th. Ms. Maddie gave out stickers and graciously took pictures with the students in the school cafeteria. The excitement did not end there! One of the parents of my students was able to invite Ms. Maddie to our classroom and my class got to know Ms. Arizona a bit more. We learned that Ms. Maddie loves to eat chicken wings, pepperoni pizza, and heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies. She also shared her love of reading books about vampires and enjoys watching Godzilla or scary movies in general. Her visit to our class culminated with a group picture. Before she left, she promised that she will come back for she plans to have class talks and presentations, or simply read a book to the kindergarteners on her last couple of months of her reign as Ms. Arizona.
It was a very pleasant once in a lifetime experience to meet a real-life beauty queen and princess who provides HOPE to many children like ours here at MC Cash. We look forward to seeing her again soon! Please check out our Gallery for more pictures!
Let’s End this Quarter with a Bang!
As we end this 3rd quarter, it is also the perfect time to review our quarterly and reset our end-of-the-year goals. In the next coming days, we will be finishing our assessments. We will also update our data folders and our amazing data wall! So, try to be in school every day and be in class bright and early ready to show how much growth you have made. Keep learning, keep growing!
L-l-long l-l-ive the Q-q-queen!
Next week, we will learn about the letters Qq and Ll. May you help your child find words and things that begin with the /kw/ and /l/ sounds. Have a happy and a long-lasting quest!
Let’s Talk About Maps and our Community
A couple of weeks ago, we learned about the importance of working together in the community. That being said, we created a map of the MC Cash community on a long “butcher paper canvas”. The students brainstormed together to what must they include in their “painting”. They also voted and chose their art medium as a team. They also worked out which table teams will draw the different components of their map (houses, roads, trees/plants, cars, people, other buildings). The entire class showed their drawing skills as they shared their markers with each other. The students were so enthusiastic and proud of what they have created as a kind, accepting, caring, hardworking group. You may check out our Gallery section for more pictures. Thank you and take care!
February 19th is President’s Day Holiday
I wish you all a very fun and safe 3-day weekend. Take care and I will see you all on Tuesday, February 20th, bright and early!
Congrats, Rafael!
Our friend, Rafael Duran, won the Bookmark Design Contest that our librarian, Ms. Schneider, initiated last December. Rafael’s bookmark design will be copied and distributed in our school library soon.
Congratulations, Rafael! Your Sonic-inspired bookmark will definitely make a lot of young readers like you “Zoom” into fluency!
As Sonic the Hedgehog says, “Wow, Tails! You did it!”
Let Gg and Ww Rule
Yes, we have 2 letters of the week starting tomorrow. Please enjoy the videos I have included. May you keep practicing to become better readers and writers!
Addition Time
We have started our Math Chapter in Addition. That being said, I invite you all to access our curriculum online resources. Here is a copy of how you can help your child access his/her digital resources.
ACCESS TO DIGITAL CURRICULUM RESOURCES FROM HOME
Your child’s log-in information was shared with you earlier this school year. If you need a copy of it, I am more than happy to provide it to you. If you are also looking for additional resources, you may find tons of them on my “Helpful Links and Websites in Math” page. This is located on the left side of my homepage. Thank you and have a happy weekend!
