Good Afternoon Parents,

Here are some assignments for your students to work on to keep their brains engaged, and occupied during this time.  If you have any questions about these assignments, as always please feel free to email me…this goes for students as well!

TO ACCESS THESE ASSIGNMENTS YOUR STUDENT MUST LOG INTO MY MATH GOOGLE CLASSROOM.  Please have them go to the topic labeled “Emailed Assignment.”

Assignment: Math

As a review for math, I will be emailing a “countdown” google slide.  Each one reviews the various topics/standards that we have learned throughout the year.  Today, I am sending home Week 20. The standard covered in this assignment is place value.  The students do know how to use google classroom and google slides. Have them show their work/justify their answers the best they can in the boxes provided.  Once they are finished with the google slides, have them submit it through the google classroom so that I can see that they have finished it.

Assignment: Writing/Science

Have the students watch today’s CNN 10 episode (we are used to watching it in class every day), and have them respond by writing two things that they have learned in the google slide I have posted.  There is a slide for each day remaining that school is closed.

Assignment:  Social Emotional Learning

I have attached a kindness challenge that you can print off and work on with your family as well. Included in the challenge are conversation starters, quizzes, random acts of kindness journals, and other resources.  When completed, just have your student write me a paragraph (3-5 sentences) in the google classroom on what activities you guys completed in the packet I sent out, and what random acts of kindness they are or have been bringing to your household this week.

Assignment: Art Class

5th Grade-  A form is a 3-D shape. A square is a shape and when you add depth it becomes a cube. A triangle becomes a cone. A circle becomes a cepher. I want you to practice drawing forms. See if you can draw three different shapes and then draw them as forms.

Also, I have more resources posted in my math google classroom (located under the topic of school closing resources) for them to work on if they need more to do.  I will have more content in the coming days in my science google classroom as well. One, in particular, is a google doc “journal.” This is a document that you, your student, and I will all have access to.  It can just be a fun way for your student to communicate all the cool things you guys are doing at home, or if they just want to say hello! I will be checking these google docs periodically and responding to the students.  If your student has written in it, and I have not responded, just send me an email, and I will be sure to respond.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions that you have for me!   Again, please make sure that you are staying home as much as possible, and remaining safe and healthy!  Let your child know that Ms. Wolff says hello and that I miss them : )
