Classroom Updates

Fox Ten News!

On Wednesday, September 20, our local FOX station will be here.  This means there will not be a typical dress down for the half day Wednesday.  Students will be asked to wear a red polo or Trailside Point spirit shirt with regular uniform bottoms.  They can wear that or their regular school uniform.  All students will be able to participate in this activity, unless they do not have a photo release slip signed by you.  If you have questions about your child’s status and if they are eligible to participate, you can ask your child, or feel free to email me.  I will be letting all of the children know who has their release forms, and who does not, prior to Wednesday.

The students will be released at 11:30 am on this day as well because it is an early release day.

School Supplies and Healthy Snacks

Speaking of supplies, our class also has a wish list of school supplies which is as follows:

*Hand Sanitizer

*Clorox Wipes

*Kleenex

*Copy Paper

*Index Cards

*Plastic Baggies (small and large)

*Paper lunch bags

*snack for the class

Also, if your child chooses to bring a snack, it needs to be a HEALTHY one. Fresh fruit. veggies, cheese, crackers (not chips), popcorn, granola bars are all great options.  The idea is to hold them over until lunch, because that is not until 12:05 pm.

Student Pick Up and Drop Off

A message from Mrs. Zembruski:

In an effort to ensure all of our students are safely getting to school, we ask that students are dropped off in the parent drop-off zone only.  Students are not to be dropped off in the parking lot, as this is too dangerous.  We have a large student population and that means there will be some traffic.  To avoid your child being late to school, plan to arrive to campus by 7:00 as to miss the last minute rush that occurs between 7:15 and 7:30.  Please be patient.  If all parents pull forward to the furthest eastern drop-off area, this will help us keep traffic off of Vineyard and keep all of our children safe.
Thank you for your continued concern and effort!

Homework Reminders

As a reminder, there is nightly homework.  Your child should not be working on homework for longer than an hour per night.

Their homework is as follows:

*Reading log:  Read for 30 minutes every night, log the book they read, and have their log signed by an adult every day.  One time per week they are to respond to their reading with one of the choices at the bottom of their reading log.

*Vocabulary Choice Board

*Spelling to 30

*Math Worksheet/packet

All of the homework is given on Mondays and is due that Friday.  The only exception is the reading log.  That is to be turned in on Mondays, and then they are given a new one.  They should always have their homework with them everyday and in their binders because we will do homework checks to ensure that they are completing something each night.

Please make sure you are signing their agendas each night as well.  This will include any special notes we have for the week and their homework as well.

Moby Max

We are excited to implement a new web-based curriculum called MobyMax in our classroom.  MobyMax is tailored to your child’s individual needs, and I think you will be very impressed by how fast your child will excel while using Moby.  Moby’s features include:
-Placement tests that accurately identify where your child excels, and where his or her “missing skills” are
-Targeted instruction to “fill in” those missing skills
-Systematic review sessions that ensure that your child retains 100% of what he or she has learned
Best of all, your child can access Moby from your home computer at any time.
Login steps for your student include:
1.  Please go to MOBY MAX
2.  Enter School Name: TRAILSIDE POINT
3.  Choose: Laveen, AZ
Each child knows their username and password.  Please ask them what theirs is.  If they have forgotten, please email me, and I will be more than happy to email you the credentials.
Once logged in, your child will immediately start the lessons and begin improving his or her missing skills in math, fact fluency, social studies, science, reading, vocabulary, spelling, test prep, and so much more!

Google Classroom

This year our students will be utilizing the google classroom in all of their subjects to complete many of their assignments.  Right now, I have science google classroom up and running, and will be integrating our math classroom as the year progresses.  Mrs. Bahler also utilizes the google classroom for both ELA and Social Studies time.  So, if you would like to have the chance to see what your child is working on in class everyday, have them log into their google classroom.  Currently, I am working on getting out parent invites so you all will have your own access to the classroom, as well as receive updates on your child’s progress via email.  Google classroom is an amazing tool that both teachers and students are fortunate enough to have access to everyday.  It’s most definitely worth checking out, and you will be amazed at what your children are capable of creating in such a short period of time.  If you have any questions about the google classroom that your student cannot answer, please feel free to email me anytime.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

You must have a google account to sign in. Your student may use their username and password from school to log in and show you what google classroom is all about!

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home this Friday.  Please discuss your child’s grades with them, sign the progress report and send it back to school as soon as possible.  This way I will know that you, as the parent, have seen your child’s grades and we can take care of any issues before report cards come out.  If you have any questions on this, please feel free to email me!

NO SCHOOL MONDAY

There will be no school this Monday September 4, in observance of Labor Day.  Regularly scheduled classes will resume Tuesday, September 5th.  Also, there will be an early release on Wednesday, September 6th.  Students will be released at 11:30 am.  Please plan accordingly.  Thank you!

Box Top Collections

The Trailside PTA will be collecting box tops again this year to help raise money for our school.  We will be collecting in the fall and spring. The first collection date will begin Monday, August 28th and end on Friday, October 6.
Each student was sent home with a box top collection sheet last week.  Fill this sheet up as quickly as you can, send it in with your student, and they will be given another one to fill.  The more box tops collected, the more money we raise!  The money will be used for general supplies/school needs. You do not need to go out and purchase items, you probably already have items in your home that have box tops on them.  Just cut them out, tape or glue them to the collection sheet and send them to school with your student.
The homeroom that collects the most amount of box tops will receive a Cookie Party!!
Here is a link with more information on the box top program and what items are included:
