Teacher Bio
Mrs. Wolfe began playing the flute in fifth grade, and she fell in love with instrumental music. She decided she wanted to learn to play all of the instruments that year, and made it her goal to become a band director. During middle school, high school, and college, Mrs. Wolfe was selected as the principal flute player in her various ensembles. She was also invited to participate in the PMEA District 7 honor band (2002), and the LVC honor band (2001-2002).
Mrs. Wolfe attended Philadelphia Biblical University for her undergraduate degree in music education/flute. She studied under the flute instructor Margaret Claudin. While at PBU, she participated in many recitals, and was even given the opportunity to perform in a master class with David Cramer (principal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra). During her senior year, she performed a solo recital including the works of Bach, Debussy, and Goddard.
Since moving to Arizona in 2007, she has been busy playing under the instruction of Dr. Jenna Daum, performing with the CAC community wind ensemble, and also with the Alla Breve flute choir. In addition to performing, Mrs. Wolfe maintains a private music studio at her residence, where she teaches flute and piano.
From 2016-2018, Mrs. Wolfe attended the American Band College. During her time there, she studied wind band conducting, and performed in the ensembles. In the summer of 2018, Mrs. Wolfe had the honor of performing a flute solo with the band under the direction of Frank Ticheli, and conducting rehearsal with some of the top band directors around the country. She graduated with her master’s degree in 2018.
Currently, she is also serving as the co-chair of the Southern Arizona Honor Band Festival- a position she has held for the past two school years. She also organized the inaugural Southern Phoenix Honor Band Festival. This festival included all of the Laveen schools, as well as some schools from the Roosevelt School District.
Mrs. Wolfe taught concert band, jazz band, marching band, concert choir, jazz choir, general music, and class guitar in the East Valley for eight years before transferring to Laveen. This is her eighth year in Laveen, where she teaches concert band for 5-8th grade students at Desert Meadows and Vista Del Sur. During her tenure as the director of bands, Mrs. Wolfe’s students have competed in the Music in the Parks Festival at Disneyland, received superior ratings at the AZMEA Solo & Ensemble Festival, and have be selected for district, regional, and all-state honor bands. She is enjoying her time here tremendously, and is confident that great people and great musicians will continue to emerge out of the LESD band programs.
