Between April 8th and April 23rd Laveen School District students will participate in state achievement testing. Students in grades three through eight will take Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching (AzMERIT).  The AzMERIT test measures students’ skills in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics.  Students in grades four and eight will continue to take the AIMS science test, in addition to AzMERIT.

Student attendance is very important, not only during testing but also in the next several weeks as we review and reinforce pertinent skills that students will need to achieve success. Listed below are ways you can help your children do their very best during testing week:
Make sure your children get a good night’s sleep.
All children should eat a good breakfast either at home or at school.
It is important your children arrive at school on time, so they don’t miss any parts of the test.
Make any appointments before or after school.
Send your children to school with a positive attitude. Encourage them to do their best. Let them know how wonderful you think they are!
