Week of Mar. 26th

Science Fair:
Science Fair Projects are due on Tuesday, March 27th!  If possible, students can turn in their project earlier than that.
 
Reminder, students need to conduct an investigation on a testable question. They will need to create a report and a display board for their investigation. Students need to follow the format that was given to them on the sample Science Lab Report.  
 
Our class Science Fair will be on March 27th. Parents and families are welcomed to join our class on March 27th from 1:30-2:30 to view all the projects created by our class. Feel free to stop by anytime between 1:30-2:30 on Tuesday, March 27th
 
The top five investigations will participate in the school science fair. The school science fair will take place on Thursday, March 29th. 
 
Closed Campus:
Starting this Monday, March 26th, our school will follow a closed campus model in the morning. Please read the letter that was sent with students on Friday, so you have more information on this topic. 
ID’s:
Students are required to wear their ID’s every day, all the time, while in school. It is part of their uniform. No exceptions.
Report Cards:
Report cards were sent home on Friday with your child. Please review and discuss the report card with your child, then sign and return the report card. When I have checked off that you have signed the report card, I will return them.
 
Bahama Bucks Dine Out:
Bahama Buck’s is doing a CLASS PARTICIPATION contest for the class with the most student participation. Make sure your child gives their teacher’s name (Gutierrez) at time of ordering, so our class WINS a classroom Paradise Party Pack of shaved ice drinks delivered to your classroom.

The state assessment, AzMerit is fast approaching, please make sure that your child is in school, on time, everyday so they are better prepared for this assessment. 
 
Homework:
Students homework consists of a reading log and any unfinished class assignments. Many students have not been consistent in turning in their reading logs in the past. Please make sure your child is reading every night and filling out their reading log. 
 
Gum Chewing:
Students have been warned against chewing gum in class. Our carpet has been ruined with multiple gum stains etc. If any students are caught with gum, the consequence will be more than a warning.

Week of Mar. 5th

Science Fair:
Please read the very bottom of this email. It contains the letter that students were given and that parents have to respond to. The first part of the assignment, the question is due tomorrow, Tuesday, March 6. Eight students have not brought back their signed letters or parents have not responded to my previous email regarding the science fair. Thank you to those parents who have responded! I have attached a list of possible Science Fair testable question ideas in case your child is not sure what to conduct an investigation on. 
 
Music Projects:
The due date for your child’s music project from Ms. Bollman’s class is on Wednesday, March 7th. Please disregard this message if your child is in band. 
 
Half Day:
This Wednesday, March 7th, is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30. Students may wear their College/University shirts with uniform bottoms on that day. 
 
 
Spring Break:

Week of Feb. 26th

Class Pictures:
On March 2nd, students will be taking class pictures. Students will be given two order forms; one for a class picture and another for individual pictures. if interested in buying any of these pictures, please make sure your child has their order form on March 2nd. Please note that only students who are purchasing individual pictures will be taking these pictures. 
 
Galileo Testing:
This week, Feb. 26-Mar. 2, is our third quarter Galileo testing week. Students will take their quarter three tests in the areas of; reading, math, science, and writing. Please make sure that students are in school, on time, and ready to learn. 
 
Book Fair:
Our school book fair is going on this week. 
 
Read Across America Day:
Will be celebrated on Thursday, March 1st. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite (interesting) hat, to celebrate The Cat in the Hat. They can also wear the colors red, white, and blue.

Students will be getting information on our upcoming science fair. All students are required to create a science fair project. Information will be sent with students this week. Email updates on this topic will be sent out soon as well.

Week of January 29th

Field Trip:
Our field trip is this Wednesday, January 31st. Only a few students are requiring school lunch. The rest indicated that they would bring a lunch from home. Students need to be in uniform or will not be able to attend the field trip. This includes their ID as it is needed to get on the bus. 
 
Also, I spoke with the class about expectations in order to go on this field trip. Any student who does not RISE to success, will not be able to attend the fifth grade field trip. 
 
Book Orders:
If your child is interested in ordering books from the Scholastic catalog, please return the order form and money by Wednesday, January 31st.

Students have been warned against chewing gum in class. Our carpet has been ruined with multiple gum stains etc. If any students are caught with gum, the consequence will be more than a warning.
Google Classroom:
Some of the assignments students might be missing can be found on google classroom. Here are the steps on how to sign in:
2.Make sure no one is logged in Google, so students can login with their own account.

Scooptacular:
If students want to buy Scooptacular ice cream, they can do that every Tuesday for $2.00.
Lunch Application:
If you have not filled out a lunch application form for your child(ren) please do so. Even if you are certain that your child(ren) do not qualilfy for free or reduced lunch prices, filling out an application is beneficial to our school. Go to www.ezmealapp.com to fill out online.
Headphones and Mice:
If students would like to bring in their own sets of headphones and a mouse to use with their chromebook they may do so. It is their responsibility to take care of these items. 
 
Fry’s VIP Card:
If you have not linked your Fry’s VIP card to our school, Paseo Pointe, please consider doing. This is an easy way for our school to get money. 
 
Tax Credit:
Please consider donating to Paseo Pointe through tax credit. Please contact our front office if you have questions about this. You can also visit our district and school website for easy to follow steps and how to donate to our school.

Please donate Sunny D Labels to our class. For every 20 labels, our class can get 20 free books!
