Every morning after recess we come in to class and sit at Circle Time. The students sit in their chair and we start with the Make A Circle song. We count how many friends are at school that day, pick a classroom job, and sing other songs.

Our Songs:

Make a Circle

Weather Song

Peanut butter and jelly

Who took the cookie

Happy

Itsy bitsy spider

Tap Your Sticks

Shake your Egg

What you can do at home:
-Pick a place that your child needs to sit, either a chair or criss cross on the floor. This helps reinforce staying in the designated learning environment
-Play the songs and have them sing with you. Try to avoid showing them the video so they stay focused on you and the hand movements MOST of them know and may be able to have you copy
-We count using a pointing stick but even a wooden kitchen spoon or similar item may work and have them count similar items near by (with your help as needed up to 10). Maybe chairs or other furniture, stuffed animals, pets, etc.
-Each student chooses a daily job. We will pick a number between 5 and 10 to count to, and shuffle their pictures, I hold one up and ask “who is this?” That student then gets to pick out their job. You could do this at home with pictures of familiar family members and when you get to their picture, you can use the Home Job List to have them pick a job for the to do. You can put this is a pocket protector and they can circle it with a dry erase marker OR cut them out and place their choice on top and put it somewhere for them to see like on the fridge as a reminder of their job that day since ours normally stay on the front board.
