Teacher Bio
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to third grade! I hope that you and your family had a relaxing summer break and are ready to begin an exciting year at Trailside Point Performing Arts Academy. My name is Mrs. Erika Lotz and I will be your child’s teacher this year. A little about me: this is my eighteenth year of teaching. I am originally from Ohio and an Ohio State University fan! I have an awesome 12 year old daughter who will be a seventh grader at Vista Del Sur with whom I love to spend time. I also love to read, travel with my husband and daughter, and watch hockey. I graduated from Wright State University with my degree in Early Childhood Education. I added a Masters in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. I am now working on a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. I am so excited to have your child in my class this year!
Your child will encounter many new things in third grade. We will work together while learning, using technology and creativity in all areas. We will explore many different genres as we learn about ourselves as readers and writers. During the year, we will learn how to contribute to the class community and become more responsible and independent learners. As your child’s teacher, my main goal is to help every child achieve success in their education and to instill a great passion for life and learning. I will plan carefully and vary my instructional strategies in order to best challenge and meet the needs of all the students in my class.
An open line of communication between home and school is very important as well. I would like to start the year by becoming partners with you in your child’s education. You can help begin this partnership by making sure you sign up for class dojo. Please never hesitate to call or email with any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s education.
I believe YOU are the most important person in your child’s life and I look forward to working together with you and your child to create a positive and productive school year.
