Sincerely,
Mrs. Simpson
All K-4th graders will have the chance to learn all about music in Mrs. Simpson’s classroom this year. We will learn about instruments, music around the world, how to read music, and so much more so that everyone is a marvelous musician! 3rd and 4th grade will even be learning how to play the recorders and have their very own recorder choir!
All 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders have the opportunity to choose my class as an elective. Each quarter music content will change. Q1 will be ukuleles and choir where students will learn the basics on the ukulele and perform as a choir ensemble for a concert. Q2 will focus on musical theater where students will learn about the history of musical theater to present day as well as the behind the scenes/tech of musical theater production and work on a short musical production of their own in class. Q3 will be musical theater where all students will audition, rehearse, and perform a full musical for the spring show. Q4 will be ukuleles, choir, and music production where we will build on our prior knowledge of the ukuleles as well as learn the ins and outs of the music production industry as well as digitally produce original music.
I am excited to share information about the fine arts club we have at Vista. All students 2nd- 5th grade have the opportunity to take part in a full musical performance this semester. This fall semester we will be doing a full musical with singing, dancing, and acting for a winter themed program. All students will have the chance to audition for a specific role, audition for a dance group, and all students will sing in the chorus.
6th, 7th, and 8th grade Fine Arts Club will consist of choir and ukuleles this fall semester
and will be musical theater in the spring semester when we are working on our spring show.
