Academics: Teachers and staff have developed plans to offer educational services while students are out of school. Visit our Academics During School Closures webpage for details on accessing curriculum materials and resources for at-home learning. Starting Tuesday, March 24, classroom teachers will provide daily, direct instruction via an online or video format. Additionally, each teacher will establish daily “office hours” during which they will be available in real-time to interact with students and answer any questions they may have.
Your child’s teachers will be contacting you in the next few days to provide information on access to instructional materials and expectations. Please reach out to them if you have not yet heard from them by Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Visit the “About Us” tab on your child’s school’s website to find a list of staff contact information. Additionally, you will want to familiarize yourself with the “Students” tab as this is where the links to all curriculum materials are housed.
Meals: Knowing many of our families rely on school meals for their children, we will be offering free breakfast and lunch to all children between the ages of one and 18 on a grab & go basis. Families may stop by any of our schools (except Vista) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for lunch. Children must be present to take a meal. Adult meals are not available. Families do not need to register for meals and there are no income requirements.
Starting March 18, we’re expanding our free meals program to district bus stops. Use our Nutrislice page to find the stop closest to you. Look for our school buses at the locations below to pick up breakfast (8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.) and lunch (12:00 p.m.. – 1:00 p.m).

Child Care: The Governor has suggested that children be kept at home whenever possible, but he has asked schools to offer childcare to families who need it. We know that some parents cannot work without childcare. For families needing this service, our Kids Club will operate a day camp program that provides structured activities in a safe, supervised environment for children in grades preschool – 6th. This will take place at two locations, Desert Meadows and Paseo Pointe. The cost is $35 a day or $120 per week (preschool is $125 per week). A three-day plan is also available. The hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our Kids Club staff is cognizant of the importance of a clean environment and incorporates cleaning with a bleach solution as part of their regular protocol. Children and staff showing any signs of illness will be sent home. Please visit our Kids Club page for details.
Student Medications: During this time of closure, parents can still pick up their student’s medication from the school. You will need to set up an appointment with the District Nurse. Please call 602.237.9100 ext. 3060.
School Contacts: Please visit your school’s contact list to reach the appropriate person. Most likely, this will be your child’s teacher. Contacts can be found under the “About Us” tab on each school’s website. You may also search our District Directory or view our department lists.
Enrollment: Laveen is processing new student enrollments throughout the closures. You may download and print registration documents from our website. Once completed, you may scan them and email them to Ramon De La O at rdelao@laveeneld.org. Upon reopening, you will need to present certain documents in person as outlined on our Registration web page.
For updates regarding this virus, please visit Maricopa County Department of Public Health and Arizona Department of Health Services. Both agencies are closely monitoring this illness and are an excellent resource for accurate information and direction.
