Teacher Bio
Hello Desert Meadow Families!
I am Alexis Johnson and I am proud to be your 2nd grade teacher this school year! While this is my first year teaching 2nd grade, this is my 6th year in education. Before switching grade levels, I was a Kindergarten 4 years and an Instructional Coach.
A little about myself for you to get to know me. I started my career in 2012, graduating from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. When I graduated, I was given the opportunity to be a Toddler Teacher at a local Daycare. I stayed there until 2014 when I moved all the way across the country to Arizona to be a Kindergarten Teacher. During my time as a Teacher I was rated a “Highly Effective Educator” for all three school years that I taught Kindergarten. While teaching Kindergarten, I pursued my Master’s in Instruction & Curriculum and graduated from The University of Phoenix in 2016. Then, in 2017, I was granted the ability to move up here to Nevada as an Instructional Coach and open up a new school! After a year of Instructional Coaching, I knew my heart belonged back in the classroom! Now I feel right at home being a Teacher again and ready to inspire young minds!
In my free time, I enjoy playing volleyball, traveling with my husband Bill and taking our dog Beau to the Dog Park. This past Christmas Bill and I welcomed our son Gannon into the world! We are completely head over heels with him and enjoy being parents.
I look forward to getting to you and your child this year and am excited to watch your child(ren) grow this school year!
Your partner in Education,
Mrs. Alexis Johnson
