Happy Last Day of 2017

December 13, 2017

Good Day Parents and Student,

Happy Last Day of 2017.

As we reflect over 2017, let us remember to celebrate the small accomplishments. It is those small accomplishments that get us closer to meeting our goals. These small accomplishments allow us to focus on the next milestones. When I think about 2018, I think about what awaits me over the next 365 days. I think about the goals that I look forward to accomplishing personally, professionally, spiritually, and financially. I think about the roads I plan to travel and the experience that awaits me. I look forward to what the next five months bring for both your student and I.  Over the next year, we will be smarter, wiser, funnier, and prepared for the next journey life bestows upon us.

Happy last day of 2017 and looking forward to 2018.

Mrs. Alexandria Sias Harris

November 27, 2017

I hope everyone had an opportunity to spend time with family and friends over this Thanksgiving Holiday. This week, we will be working on Verbs Review and taking our Unit 2 test. We have been working on Main Idea / Central Idea and Details. I have completed our first Classcraft Quest. This quest is centered around Main Idea / Central Idea and Details. As the students complete each challenge, they have an opportunity to earn XP and GP points as they continue to practice.

2016-2017 School Year Comes to a Close

Dear 6th Graders,

Oh My Goodness, What a year it has been! I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for allowing me to facilitate your academic journey. This year we have tried so many different things. Some of them were very successful while others need a visit back to the drawing board. Together, we learned how to create a discussion forum, through the use of Socratic Seminar, that was both intimidating and exciting. We had an opportunity to learn from each other and ask those thought-provoking question. We have learned how to use Google Forms to obtain the opinions and suggestions of others. We utilized Google Maps to bring to life the stories we have read. We were authors of our second or third books, depending on your time at Cash. We have learned how to analyze questions to pair with the best given answer. The list goes on and one.

My wish for you is that you will always remember, Your education is your responsibility. It is the foundation for what is coming next, and no one has the right to disrupt your learning. For once you have learned it no one can take it away. I hope you will make your education a priority.

Since you know better, you will do better.

Best of Wishes as you continue on this academic journey.

Ms. Harris

Classcraft / Class Dojo / Monthly Cash-Cash Checks

While students are in the ELA, I will be using Classcraft. Like ClassDojo, Classcraft is a management tool. However, it is designed for the older students. Students are placed in teams up to six classmates and each student picks a role as a Warrior, a Healer, and a Mage. Each role as a specific duty and power that helps their teammates. Please ask your child to log in and show you their points. If a student loses all of their Health Points, they are summoned into academic battle. They will have to answer a series of questions to restore their health points. On the other hand, their teammate may also volunteer to absorb their points.  As of December 2016, your child is able to purchase wardrobe, additional powers, and pets with the points they have earned. Please take a chance to check out your child’s progress. classcraftclassdojo
