Mr. Morgan’s bio

I grew up in Summerfield, Illinois, a sleepy village about 30 minutes outside of St. Louis, MIssouri.  As a student in Summerfield and nearby Lebanon, I did very well in class and pretty well on the athletic fields.  I played well enough to play in college, although I didn’t actually play due to some nagging knee and ankle issues.

I attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, for college.  My focus there was not on education, but rather on broadcasting.  I spent four years broadcasting sports for WGRE-FM radio at the school.  When I graduated in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications, I moved to Jamestown, New York, to begin broadcasting professionally.  However, after one season doing play-by-play for the Jamestown Jammers baseball team, I moved back to the midwest and began moving toward education.

In 2003, I moved to the Phoenix area, and I began working in the Laveen district (I can’t believe it’s been that long).  By the summer of 2005, I had finished my work to becoming a certified teacher.  Since I got my certification, I have taught three years at Vista, four years at M.C. Cash, and now I am in my twelfth year at Desert Meadows.

I finished my Master’s degree in Education Leadership at Ottawa University in December, 2015, and I look forward to one day moving into an administrative role.  For now, though, my focus is on teaching my students the wonders of our history and social sciences.

Personal Life

I live in Phoenix with my dog, Dexter.  When I’m not working, I love to relax by watching TV – especially sports – watching movies, listening to music, or competing in local trivia contests. It is my dream to one day be on Jeopardy!
