About the Teacher

Hello everyone! My name is Ms. Thorpe and I will be teaching 7th grade Science at Desert Meadows Elementary this year. I am a native Arizonan and have lived in Buckeye for the past 9 years. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from the University of Arizona (go Cats!) and a Master’s degree in STEM Education through the University of Iowa. I am certified through the state to teach both Middle School Science and Mathematics. I have previously taught 6th grade Science, 7th grade Science, and 7th grade Math.

I am a science nerd but outside of school I love hiking, fishing, baking, plants, and true crime shows/podcasts. I love to travel to other countries and have been to Mexico, Spain, Norway, and Ireland. My dream country to visit next would be either Chile or Peru! Family is very important to me and I am a dog person all the way.

Teaching science is my true passion because science helps us discover more about the world we live in by asking questions and exploring. It is for everyone and can be done anywhere, with any budget.

Thanks for reading a bit about me. I can’t wait to meet the 2020-2021 7th graders!
