Teacher Bio

Education: I graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelors Degree in English. A few years later I graduated with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Since then I have received a Graduate Certification in Gifted and Talented and over 25 graduate credits in various STEM courses.

Teaching Experience: This will be my eleventh year teaching! I taught 6th grade science/social studies for 3 years. Then, I taught 4th grade science, social studies and math to a group of 50 gifted students. The following year, I looped with 25 of those students to teach them 5th grade gifted curriculum. Then I taught STEM classes to Kindergarten through 6th graders for two years. Finally, I taught 6th grade science and social studies at Vista Del Sur for 2 years.

Family Life: I am originally from New York so my parents and brother are still living there. I have been married to my amazing husband, Himanshu, for almost 9 years! Interesting fact: we got married three times in three months. I also have a beautiful 5.5 year old son named Veer and twin (almost) 2 year old boys named Saaz and Zion.

Interests: My passion for science developed during my first year of teaching. Since then, my obsession has grown! I love anything to do with science; I have met two astronauts, Bill Nye and I’ve enjoyably spent my two summers as part of a teacher institute at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.. I was lucky enough to get to help run Museum activities during the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 two summers ago at the Museum. I also enjoy doing lateral thinking puzzles, reading mystery books, random road trips, cooking and spending time with my family 🙂
