Our Classroom

Our classroom is a positive and safe environment where we will learn and grow together.  I strive to have a room of happy and sharp students. It is also a place of high academic and behavioral expectations.  Estrella Foothills sets high expectations! We provide diverse educational experiences for all students to have the knowledge, skills, and opportunities that prepare them for the future. We will be working to develop life skills that will help students be successful in different environments with appropriate behaviors.

Classroom Management

At Estrella Foothills Global Academy, our school rules are S.T.I.N.G.— Solution Driven, Tolerant, Inquirer, Negotiator, and Global Learner. These attributes will help your child understand the expectations set for them in the classroom, and around campus. Our classroom & school operates under the following rules:

We are:

  • Solution Driven
  • Tolerant
  • Inquirer
  • Negotiator
  • Global Learner

We will go over what these expectations look like in the classroom and around the school.  If students need improvement in following the rules or if they need support in developing appropriate and positive behaviors, the following three steps may occur:

I use ClassDojo as an online management tool.  This will allow you to log in and see your child’s daily behavior report. It lists specific behaviors so you can be aware of what is going on throughout the day. I will also be sending updates and messages through email or a personal call. I will always be open to keeping open communication with my families.

Homework

There may be homework assigned should your child require extra home practice.

Lunch

You are welcome to join your child for lunch at 12:10-12:45. Please remember we are a closed campus, all visitors must sign in at the front office.

Transportation

If you need to make a change to the way your child goes home, please contact the school office OR send me an email at erodriguez@laveeneld.org before 2:20 pm. If a call or a note from the office is not received, we will send your child home the way they would normally leave.

Toys

Please do not allow your child to bring any toys from home, it can take their attention away from the day’s learning. We will provide opportunities throughout the year for them to share special things.

Backpacks

Please look in your child’s bag each day.  Go through their work and show that you value all their efforts.   I send school news by way of your child in your child’s BACKPACK FOLDER.  This folder will come home daily and should be sent back each day.  Your child will use this folder to keep track of their work and other important school documents. They made need support with this at the beginning of the year.

Birthdays

If you would like to send in a birthday treat for your child, you must prearrange a date with me.  The office will not allow anyone to send in treats if it has not been pre-arranged with the teacher.  Birthday celebrations will be held no earlier than 2:30 pm of the scheduled day. A healthy treat is preferred. Please remember this is an academic environment, birthday party-type celebrations will not be allowed.

Water Bottles

It is necessary for you to send water with your child as we do NOT have a classroom drinking fountain. In order to minimize classroom disruptions, please send a refillable water bottle with your child’s name on it every day.
