Hello parents and students,

This year we will be continuing our learning on how to play the recorder in music class for both 3rd and 4th grade. We will be implementing our Quaver music curriculum which requires recorder choirs in each music class.

Students will need to purchase their own soprano recorder to be used throughout the school year. If there is a financial constraint and you are unable to purchase one for your student, please email Mrs. Simpson at clynch2@laveeneld.org so that arrangements can be made to make sure your student has their own instrument as a loan from the school for the school year. You can find further information on purchasing your student’s recorders on the back of this page.

Students will be using their recorders in nearly every music class this year starting in September for 4th grade and January for 3rd grade. Once your student has their recorder, they will bring it to their next music class where it will be labeled and stored safely in the music room closet so that we can access them on the days when we need to for a new lesson. At the end of the year the recorders will be returned to each student to take home until next school year.

Below is a list of retailers that carry soprano recorders at an affordable cost, most priced at $10.00 or less. Once your student has their recorder they can bring it to the music room to be kept safe until we use it in their next class. If you have any questions or concerns please email clynch2@laveeneld.org and I will be happy to get back to you.
