Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome fifth grade math! I hope that you and your family had a relaxing summer break and are ready to begin an exciting year at Laveen Online Academy. My name is Miss Adair and I will be your child’s teacher this year. A little about me: this is my 8th year teaching; I went to ASU for my bachelors in elementary education and for my masters in Higher and Postsecondary. I grew up in Arizona even though I was born in California. I also love to Latin dance, figure skate, and playing soccer. I am so excited to have your child in my class this year!
Your child will encounter many new things in fifth grade math. We will work together while learning, using technology and creativity in all areas. During the year, we will learn how to contribute to the class community and become more responsible and independent learners. As your child’s teacher, my main goal is to help every child achieve success in their education and to instill a great passion for life and learning. I will plan carefully and vary my instructional strategies in order to best challenge and meet the needs of all the students in my class.
An open line of communication between home and school is very important as well. I would like to start the year by becoming partners with you in your child’s education. Please never hesitate to call or message me on ParentSquare with any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s education. I will get back to you as soon as I can when time allows. I or your student will call home after any incidents or if I had any concerns with your student. For example, if your student chooses to not behave or refuses to listen to directions, they may be calling you to let you know what they did.
I believe YOU are the most important person in your child’s life and I look forward to working together with you and your child to create a positive and productive school year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Adair
